I. Ten years of Azerbaijan rock (for those who can fly)

Taking a risk of getting happy yapping among descendants of unforgettable comrade Sharikov - head of cleaning: "Ohh, they avouched themselves as a devilry!" I decided to let myself compare of rock-culture with dragon. According to authorized point of view of R.R. Tolkien and other storytellers decapitated head of dragon is still viable. But not everything is so simple, gentlemen:
Rock head of dragon, separated from its body - in this case out of civic interest - keeps viable for already 10 years with its own separate life, and telling that it does not exist is at lest very silly. As a sample of viability of modern Azerbaijan rock-culture in the context of building successful present and future independent Azerbaijan is activity of big number of rock-bands of different type, existing now and in the past on the territory of Azerbaijan during last 10 years.

Some of them, are presented in the project "Rock in Azerbaijan", which is to be implemented with financial support of OSI-AF Azerbaijan (Azerbaijan branch of Soros Foundation). 8 teams, presented in the project enable to get acquainted with establishment, development and in the perspective with integration of second wave of Azerbaijan rock into the world music rock-culture. Five rock bands (Charley ATL, Yuhu, Coldunya, Papa Jack, Industry) are representing precursor and patriarchs of the second wave in national rock culture. Out of all these teams only "Coldunya" is continuing activities. It was first band, representing Azerbaijan abroad (October-November 1996, foreign hit-parade of BBC radiostation, song "Sehrbaz", 7-th place). Experiments with extension of musical and poetic lexicon together with art-rock (Charley ATL), open commercial approach with hard speech (Yu-hu), attempt of creation of symbolic images either in sound or in words (Papa Jack), synthesis of Azerbaijan academic and ethnic music with best traditions of art-rock and simpho-rock (Coldunya), sonorous calls "Fuck" everybody and everything with dirty accords of grange-rock (Industry) made basement in senses of young people, but taking more preciously, next page
